Well, at least it's not snowing.
April has decided to bless southern Maine with a lovely spring storm. High winds, flooding, and sideways rain are just some of the fun we've been having since Sunday.
It started with snow and much cursing was heard from the folks (myself included) who are ready to be done with winter. The winds picked up Sunday night and the power went out Monday morning, just in time for breakfast.
Now, the Husband does not like to be "stuck" inside. As we were both quite hungry, we stopped by the store to make sure it was still standing and headed in to our favorite breakfast place, Stone Dog Cafe in Windham. Jeff's Eggs Benedict with regular bacon instead of Canadian bacon makes the fact that we were without power for hours and without the internet until this morning all worth while.
Everywhere we went, flooding roads and wind damage to roofs were the norm. Route 114 was closed past Dingley Springs and Route25 that was almost flooded in one spot on our way out to Windham was completely flooded in that spot on our way back. We even got a call from the fire department at about 7:30 telling us that emergency shelters had been set up.
It's still rainy and grey today and the temperature is a little more brisk than I'd like, but here's hoping this Nor'easter is just the herald for a beautiful spring to come.
