The replacement seedlings have come along nicely and so far, George hasn't made any attempts to break into the fortress of chickenwire that I've built around my seedlings.
I haven't been out yet today, but rumor has it that it's pretty warm and it's certainly sunny right now. I'm growing concerned that I haven't been able to start peas yet. They didn't get planted until May 4 last year and that pea crop was abysmal. I'm not even sure that the soil has thawed enough so that I can turn in the winter rye and the whole prospect is making me anxious.
From reading the blogs of fellow gardeners in the Northeast, I'm not alone in the "late season" start to things. I just hope we don't go from winter straight to summer.
