The weather guy from Channel 6 made mention the other day that we're entering the coldest part of winter. March seems so far away without the din of the holidays to distract me. Hearing that we will have highs in the single digits is just disheartening.
February by Dar Williams is a great song for this time of year. If you don't know the song, the above video features it. My favorite part of the song:
First we forgot where we'd planted those bulbs last year, Then we forgot that we'd planted at all, Then we forgot what plants are altogether, and I blamed you for my freezing and forgetting and The nights were long and cold and scary, Can we live through February?
This is a great song. I have a friend who says money has to be spent every February, on a wonderful trip - OR marital counselling. Our snow is deep and I can enjoy the seed catalogs and a vision of a perfect garden for quite a while more.
I'm a cook, a gardener, a gamer geek and a compulsive creator, not necessarily in that order. Since I learned many of these things from family members, I figure it must be genetic. I live in the beautiful state of Maine and wouldn't have it any other way.
Sweet!

I make no claim to be a chef, but I can whip together a decent meal with whatever happens to be on hand. With that in mind, you'll forgive the sometimes loose measurements or vague directions in recipes I post.
The garden bug hit me early as a direct result of the beautiful grounds my Great Uncle Lester used to keep and the huge vegetable patch at my parents house. I strive to do them both proud and hope to wrangle my little Buttercup into my green madness.
I love to make stuff. I love to pull apart stuff to make other stuff. I love poking around stores that sell stuff used to make other stuff. Some people call it being a pack rat. I like to think of myself as a Renaissance woman.
I've been a gamer geek for a long, long time. Since way before it was cool. I like games so much that I'm now a professional gamer geek alongside my husband who knew I was "the one" when I quoted Conan to him on our first date.
